MEN’S STYLE INFLUENCERS SHARE THEIR MOST PRIZED MENSWEAR GARMENTS
Written by VRtT in Get the Look on the 5th September 2019 / Men’s Style Influencers Share their Most Prized Menswear Garments
Everyone has that sacred menswear piece that they hold onto year after year, whilst many other threads end up sold on Depop or given to Charity to make way for new garments. Maybe it’s a vintage piece. Maybe it’s something that no longer fits you but you hold onto it because of the nostalgic memories. It could be a designer jacket that always brings you good luck or a scarf handed down from a great grandfather. For this feature we speak to online male influencers about their number one most prized men's fashion garment they own. We have the winner of Vuelio’s best men’s fashion blog 2018 and a blogger who is soon to launch a new book titled ‘Fashion Wankers, It Takes One, To Know One’, among others.
Mr Luke Christian
"I first clapped eyes on this jacket from Zara about 5 years ago and immediately knew I had to have it! I rarely feel this way about clothing so I knew that this was a must have. What I love about this jacket is firstly, the suede texture which feels divine and adds a luxury touch! Secondly, the fringe detailing on the arms, back and sleeves makes me feel strong and powerful whenever I wear it and it’s always a head turner."
"My most prized possession would have to be my bespoke Hardy Amies suit. I visited their flagship store in Savile Row and was measured for the suit which fits like an absolute dream. It’s super easy to dress both up and down and is the perfect all-rounder for numerous events throughout the year."
"My favourite menswear piece would be my Suitsupply Navy Suit. A navy suit is a classic wardrobe item for any gentleman - timeless, elegant and simplistic. But it also carries some great memories - as it’s my wedding suit - lots of fun times. It’s also been worn for work related events and interviews too."
"I’ve owned many coats of the years, and expensive ones at that. But I’ve never been truly happy with either the comfort levels they provide, the silhouette they give or the way they poorly age over a couple of seasons. However, this coat by Atelier Scotch came into my life back in 2014 when I was part of the Sartorial 7 collective. It was the key piece in my outfit for the project that we filmed in Amsterdam. I love the effect of the fabric, the shape and the light weight yet chunky look. It’s really comfortable to wear, keeps me super warm in winter and is very versatile."
"My most prized garment would have to be my AllSaints leather jacket I purchased around 5 years ago. I went with the super traditional black biker, with no extra fancy whistles and bells, and I’m so glad I did! It’s the perfect piece to play up, either in smart or casual fits, paired with jeans or smart trousers and be the standout staple piece. My favourite way of wearing it is with a pair of classic black jeans, a white tee, some great Chelsea boots and a fedora hat for that real guy about town vibe that I love. Also, the reason why it means so much to me is that I received it as a 21st birthday present from my parents who have always really supported me and pushed me to work hard, so I really cherish it."
"My Canada Goose coat is one of the best items of clothing I've ever bought. The quality of the jacket is second to none, designed to combat the cold weather and has kept me warm for 8 or 9 winters. It's a timeless piece, so I expect to be wearing this for many more winters to come."
"As a passionate purveyor of British style, this overcoat takes pride of place in my Autumn/ Winter wardrobe. The simplicity and charm of Mr P’s Double-Breasted Bouclé Overcoat is, for me, unrivalled. I have not yet donned an overcoat that possesses such character and that is able to lift my spirits as I step outside into the autumn/winter climate. For me, that is what the colder seasons are all about; allowing us gents to dress well and express ourselves, whether it be statement coats or clever layering with scarves, jumpers and other garments."
"I would say my one prized possession is my Gold Padlock Necklace from my brand Serge DeNimes. It is the first piece of jewellery i designed for my brand, and means a lot to me as the design includes my family crest, something very personal to me with a lot of history. We no longer sell this piece, and i only made one in solid gold which is the one i wear today."
"The one item that I just can’t face passing on is my bright blue velvet jacket from Duchamp. It was a little neat when I got it and I only ever ended up wearing it the once but I just love everything about it, and can’t face removing it from my wardrobe. The colour and the soft velvet fabric as well as the cut contribute to make it the most stunning piece I own."
"It’s tough to have just one when you’re a Fashion Wanker like me, but I would I have to say my 1970s leather jacket. I found it when I was 15 during the mid-90s in Brighton. I chose it from a rail of moth-eaten black leather jackets and it later turned out to be by the French brand Zilli, one of the most expensive menswear shops on Bond Street. The collar with the arrows is pure Elton John Rocketman and the fit is cropped but long in the arms. I know I’ll never find another one like it which makes it special."
